Inocencio Heredia Castillo (Chencho… El Legendario) come to Septeto Santiaguero after being in several bands like Chepin Choven and Septeto Luz.

There’s no proof of previous musicians in his family but since he was a child, Chencho felt affinity to this amazing world. He was so curious and inspired that once he couldn’t won a guitar in a sort of raffle, he made one on his own and even if it wasn’t accorded, it satisfied his restlessness of brat boy. He kept closer to his inspirations during his boyhood, when the hits of Dimension Latina and all the salsa world influenced him so much.

Not only the Venezuelan orchestra and Oscar de Leon, but also the Cuban Benny Morè, Son 14 and Pablo Milanes were the main musical references of Chencho. About it, Msc in civil engineering too, with his beautiful smile, he confesses that when he was a student in Russia, even if he liked Silvio Rodriguez, he made the other twenty habaneros students in the university listened to the eastern singer Pablo Milanes.

With 24 years playing in Septeto Santiaguero there are so many songs with his peculiar voice timbre. Otherwise, it’s because of La Menadera that people always stop him in the streets…and it’s the one he likes interpreting more.

The joyfulness that spreads off Inocencio, also composer and minor percussionist of Septeto, just sometimes set against the discipline and earnestness that he put in his job. He often talks about the importance of responsibility when performing in front of an audience. If you ask him why he likes so much working with Septeto Santiaguero he says the exactitude and severity which characterize the band, and finally he says:” The most important thing in music is discipline, and the musician who’s disciplined, he arrives wherever, the one who’s not, even if he’s talented, he got frustrated on the way.
