Firma del acta legal de la donación

With the sensation of losing something belonging to the own body, Septeto Santiaguero gave to the Music Museum Pablo Hernández Balaguer, a recorded tape with their first music recording realized in 1996, and other great objects of their heritage too.

The decision to make this donation to the Museum was taken to contribute better understanding the history of what the band did. In this sense, Fernando Dewar Webster, director of the band who won twice the Latin Grammy, declared to the TeleTurquino journalist Claudia Catalan:” This donation expresses the intention that the music that we do , last in time and that in the future it could be known how we did it.

The donation to the unique Music Museum of the country outside the capital, also included the full collection of the band discs, 10 album until today and a file with important information of almost 25 years of artistic career

. “The fact that the Museum would accept the initiative of Septeto Santiaguero of making this donation makes me proud because it’s a privilege that our music and our objects would be close to pieces and articles of charcters like Sindo Garay, Eliades Ochoa, Electo Rosell “Chepin”, Reinaldo Creach”, etc.. – continued Dewar.

“We think that this could be an initiative that the other musicians could follow and enrich this Museum, to allow young people to find a place in which they could know about music and the musicians who transcended through this city”

Sounds and melodies were the main characters of an event in which the big winner was the cuban musical heritage. The donation ceremony started with a tribute of Septeto Santiaguero to the big Benny Moré, a few hours before its anniversary, performing “Que te hace pensar”,a bolero that El Barbaro del Ritmo put at the highest level in the musical scene.

When the workers of the Museum gave to Fernando a copy of the handwritten sheet music of Miguel Matamoros, the world icon of the song “Lagrimas negras”, was another very emotional moment, felt by all the presents.

The fact that in the city of Santiago exists a Music Museum is something that this eastern province gained with all its cultural heritage. I think that this is just the beginning of a very important situation, and as time goes by and the musicians keep donating theirs objects and music, we will have a much more interesting an rich Museum for all visitors”, concluded.

From this moment, nothing could stop the performance of the prestigious band, who reached the top with themes like La Meneadera and La Guarapachanga, which let dance the audience, including the main Province institutions of Culture department and the vice Minister Ileana Flores Izquierdo.
